2022 Highlights
The Cucamonga Valley Water District (CVWD/District) hosted its Water Savvy Garden Tour on Saturday, April 23, to educate residents about the value and beauty of water savvy landscapes. Participants joined the self-guided tour to learn how they can make changes in their yards to be more water efficient. Over one hundred participants walked away with the knowledge and motivation to transform their water guzzling grass into an attractive, water-saving landscape.
Participants began at CVWD where they were given maps and materials and saw the water district’s demonstration landscapes. They visited 15 examples of low-water using landscapes throughout the community, including residential landscapes that were previously selected as winners for CVWD’s Landscape Contest.
"The Water Savvy Garden Tour was great!” commented a tour participant. “I was particularly impressed with the variety of landscaping available for the purpose of conserving water. Creativity is certainly the name of the game and many of the designs were just beautiful.”
Participants visited with featured landscape owners to learn straight from the source what plants and design elements work well in our warm climate. By viewing multiple variations of attractive, water saving landscapes, participants are inspired to make improvements in their own landscapes, resulting in water savings while beautifying the community.
